That's a Week in Darts
Interesting week of darts and the madness that goes on off the oche.
John O'Shea is well within his rights to keep hold of the World Masters trophy, Despite Des Jacklin's endless & groundless threats. I hope that "The Joker" will keep standing his ground as there hasn't been another World Masters played & the BDO is as good as folded.
James Wade had a bit of a rant over the Standard of the PDC, And I do think he has a point, It at the very least Plateaued over the 5 years. Anderson, Taylor, MVG were hitting bigger averages and the doubling was a lot higher. Wade hasn't really done much in the PDC within the last 18 months yet is still in the Top 16, Perhaps testament to how good a player he actually is.
Joe Cullen was number one seed for the European Championships, Now I know its based on the OOM of the 4 Euro tours but it has to go down as one of the weakest number 1's in PDC history, and true to form he lost in the 1st round to William O'Connor and Joe didn't turn up as well. Very weak.
Talking about the European Championships, We are seeing further evidence of Rob Cross decline when his defeat to Kleermaker wasn't really a shock, Daryl Gurney also showing that perhaps he is beginning his decline. Was delighted to see Ian White beat MVG only to mess it up to the ever-improving Devon Pietersen the following day. Johnny Clayton is another player who is improving and he will reach another semi or final in a TV event before the World Championship.
I see Wayne Mardle boast about how much he earns compared to his ITV counterparts, Reminds me of the time he came onto a Darts forum to do the same and was sent packing (good afternoon that was).
De Souza broke his duck (TV win) on Friday with a 9 Darter into the bargain, Needs to prove a lot more to actually prove he is a top 32 player, The jury is out but he is decent to watch.
WDF Virtual World Cup is still going and I seen a good performance from Martin Adams beating Mal Cuming, Its been a good tournament and we are getting to the business end of it now. Its easy to follow on Dartsconnect and on YouTube if you type in "USA Darts".
Have a good week all
Oche.
